USS Oriskany
viking_diving_new013007.jpg
Pensacola offers a wide variety of dive sites from natural bottom limestone reefs to many different artificial reefs to include the worlds largest artificial reef, the former USS Oriskany. A look at Ned DeLoach's "Diving Guide to Underwater Florida" shows Pensacola as having more dive sites than any other area in the state of Florida. While visibility on inshore reefs averages around 40 to 60 feet, it is not unusual to have 80 foot or better. Offshore reefs often see visibility of 80 to 100 foot average and the USS Oriskany can have visibility over 200 feet. Dive conditions can vary from site to site and from day to day depending on weather and sea conditions. We offer dive trips year round but Spring and Summer trips are most popular due to calmer and warmer seas.
