During her younger years Amy grew up in the frigid North. She dreamed of a warmer future and participated in a high school field study on Andros Island in the Bahamas that spurred her interest in marine biology. She left Vermont and moved to Key West where she received her open water certification. Attracted by UWF's unique marine biology program she moved to Pensacola to pursue her bachelors degree. She is currently participating in various studies involving Atlantic stingrays and bamboo sharks as well as taking care of many display animals before her scheduled graduation in 2008. She proved herself competent as crew during a 3 week tour aboard the Coral Reef Foundations dive research ship "Primrose" where she assisted and crewed on a Gulf of Mexico crossing to the Mexican Yucatan. In her free time she enjoys studying Japanese language and Shotokan Karate.
